ETSU Digital Media Students and Faculty made a great showing in the 2012 American Advertising Federation-Northeast Tennessee ADDY Awards. The awards presentation was held at Johnson City Country Club in Johnson City, TN on February 18, 2012.
Joseph Riner, who graduated in Fall 2011, took home 2 Gold and 2 Silver ADDY awards, and won Student Best of Show for his “Wayne Quasar and the Solar Flares” poster. Gold ADDYs were also won by Isaac Caraway and Jessica Burns. Silver awards were received by Inga Sarkodie, the “Vertigo” team: Christina Sturgill, Alex Morton, Kaylee Coffey, Franck Doumbe and Jessica Burns, and the “ETSU Manufacturing” team: Christian Wenzel and Matt McMillan. Categories of winning work ranged from digitally enhanced photography, digital illustration, graphic design, package design and animation.
Jon Hounshell, a faculty member in Digital Media, and students Seth Alley, David Mowell and Logan Hibbits won a Gold ADDY in the professional division for the Blue Plum Animation Festival poster. Hounshell also won a Silver ADDY for the promotional postcard for the MA in New Media Studio. Student and professional works winning Gold will go on to compete in the regional stage of the National AAF ADDY competition. The ADDYs, sponsored by the American Advertising Federation (AAF), is the advertising industry’s premiere creative competition.
