At its tenth anniversary conference on November 9, 2012, the International Digital Media and Arts Association presented the Student Showcase Award to East Tennessee State University’s Digital Media Program. The Digital Media Program presented works from 20 students ranging from 3D visual effects and animation, motion graphics, video and print design.

The Digital Media Seniors will be presenting their portfolios to the public, and the Advanced Raster Based imaging students will be presenting their experimental digital art on May 4 at 5:00 in the Digital Media Center.  This will include digital animation, digital video, technical direction, game level design, visual effects, and 2D design.

$1,000 scholarship for a student who is studying animation at an accredited institution, demonstrates artistic talent, and desires to make animation her career.

Adjunct faculty member, James Livingston, facilitated this summer's Computer Camp at the Digital Media Center at East Tennessee State University for students ranging in ages from 12 to 16 years old

Jason Stansell, ETSU grad and Senior Animator at Sony Imageworks, is coming to campus April 8th and 9th! He'll be visiting classrooms Thursday and Friday, judging the EDGE art show, and giving a public talk.

This is a collection of some of the motion graphics work done in the Motion Tools II: Compositing class (DIGM4627/6).  

Students did their own matchmove and masking. Then added their own fountain (modeling, texturing, and lighting) and simulated the water. They then composited the whole thing.  

Students were required to digitally blow-up the neighboring Millennium Centre, and had to show at least one person on fire. These two were team projects with 5 students on a team. They worked on this for 3-4 weeks. It uses a combination of modeling, matchmoving, character animation, compositing, and dynamics skills.
